Oh and my substitute ferret, Bailey.
This couple has left no need untended and are seriously making it difficult to go back to a gear truck. First there was the welcome package and trip to the bicycle shop. It didn't stop there. A shopping trip to the mall was like culture shock. They suffered through 2 not so great movies, plied me with ice cream, had cold coke ready for breakfast(just a note, I told a certain beach club member this and he was distressed as he was staying with relatives that had a no caffeine policy so had to go ot for his own pop fix!) served fabulous bagels and fresh cherries for breakfast, let me have a quiet morning, helped me remodel my official safety vest to finally fits and is very stylish with it's custom embroidery and bedazzling.
Got me to the celebration service on time. Really, above and beyond the call of duty.
There had to be about 2000 people at the service and there were so many call outs "Hi Gayle! I love to read your blog!" and it was great just talking to so many people excited about what Sea To Sea was doing.
Including Trish and Fred Wassink from my home church.
After the service, we joined Pieter, Margaret and Art for dinner at Old Chicago's then it was off to Peleton. I met up with Josh and told him that I had heard he was at the same bike shop. He said yeah and confessed that he had tried to get them to play a joke on me. He had wanted to put a ball bearing in my seat post so that every time I went over a bump it would rattle and drive me nuts. He thought he would let it go on for a few days then play the hero and say he would take a look at it for me. The bike shop guy said he couldn't do that, because I would come back to complain. Josh tried to convince him that was the beauty of it, as I was leaving town and wouldn't be able to complain. No go. Josh...buddy...I like where your head's at but you are messing with the wrong girl.
A warm welcome was given to our new cyclists and unfortunately we had to say good bye to a dear friend.
Lynn, who was the victim of the attack of the sunflowers has not had much progress with her knee and has decided that it is best not to continue with the tour. My heart is broken for her even though she has assured me she is making the right decision. Darling, I'm proud to have been a part of this with you. Several times you were there to keep me going, struggling into Colorado, loosing the road down from the Rabbit Ears pass. I will miss another one of the quiet girls, full of grace and strength. Love you lots, my friend.

Hi Gayle
Even though Lynn won't be able to finish the tour with you, I will be checking your progress daily. Through your eyes I can really experience the ride. Praying for your safety and urging you on to Jersey City. Lynn is very disappointed that she couldn't continue on, but the kind words that you and others said were much appreciated. After all it isn't about the ride but the goal is to make a difference in the lives of those in need. I'm sure she is happy that she could be a part of that goal.
Iowa Mom
Gayle,
You forgot your memory stick. I'll send it to you.
