The Buzz of the NewBies(Bees?)

Monday morning, I bade farewell to Jan and Gary and headed to the send off at Calvin College. A few glitches the morning as we scrambled to find Jan's sewing machine after the gear truck clean and a lost signal during my movie reviews. But finally I was ready to ride in my new snazzy vest.

Everyone was impressed and asked where I had gotten it. There was a "buzz" of excitement as over 50 new riders joined us for the final two weeks including the final four of our group of 8 from FirstCRC. I had decided to be the last one in so that no one had to be last on their first day and do my best to meet as many of the new gang and try and get some names down.
Along the route I met up with Cheryl from Newmarket, ON and my friend, Marti's home church. She is a fitness instructor and tried to do the first SeaToSea but it didn't work out. The route went through this lovely covered bridge-appropriate as our destination was Sleepy Hollow State Park.

Our first stop was at CalvaryCRC that had an enormous spread for a second breakfast. At the stop, Cheryl switched to ride with Marti and I met up with Marge and Peter. They are from SouthWestern Ontario and actually Marge and I realized we grew up about 15miles from each other but went to different schools. Very cool.
I think we also found what has been adding all the extra weight to my bike and what the squeaking noise is....

The weather was on our side as we had our 5th tailwind of the whole trip. It was a much better start for those on their first day than those who had started in Denver.
We arrived at Sleepy Hollow Park (no horses allowed!)

and decided that this would be a good place to pitch my tent.

The evening ended with a lovely campfire with some of the gang.

Thank you, Gayle, for the lovely photo of the Ada Covered Bridge. My 3 sons attended a Christian school just a few blocks away, and we always enjoyed a treat or picnic at this bridge to celebrate some milestone at school. You passed the offering basket to my row at the Sunday celebration, and I wanted to shout "Hello and thanks for a most honest and entertaining blog."
