Time Warp

Welcome to mountain time.

We lost an hour on the road today but we had a short day with warm weather. A slight tailwind kept us cool and the mood and spirit of all the riders is much more relaxed today.

Alida, Jessica and I rode together looking for adventure.

We cruised out of Huntington and for a slower shorter 55kms ride along the Snake River.
A local lady pulled over to ask what we were doing. We talked about Sea To Sea and she was so interested and encouraging. She told us that the mountain we were travelling along was called Indian Head as it showed the profile of a warrior Indian as you viewed it from the distance. It was really cool to see it.

About 10kms from the end I had my 4th flat tire. We pulled the tube and put a new one in while we patched the first. Inflating the new tube was all it took to blow the new tube. Good thing we had patched the original tube. That one got me to camp and a trip to the bike shop to get "thorn resistant" tubes. I had Opa John look to make sure I had the right size and if I had paid a fair price-What do I know about that. But Opa confirmed the prince and that I had done well. Actually I even had asked for and got a discount for being with the tour.
Our destination today- ONTARIO.

Well Ontario, OR. But fun to think of it as home. People in town were curious about what we were all about and a local cafe opened late so that we could use their internet. People in general are kind and giving to us in tour.
I have also found my groove again and back in the spirit of the ride. I must take each day as it comes.
Tomorrow, It's on to Boise, ID. I have sent Jeanne her scavenger list which includes a Christmas ornament(I am collecting those for my tree), A pomegranate, some stuff that the kitchen staff really need and a pedicure appointment!(I think I've earned that one. I'll see how she does and let you know. It's fun that she is being such a sport about it and the whole camp is excited to see the results.
Off to bed. My love and blessings and thanks again for all your encouragement.

Hi Gayle
Sounds like you had a most interesting day yesterday. I continue to enjoy your blogs.I would have loved to be with you on that museum trip. I love history and those who like to keep treasures of the past. To hear their stories are just fascinating. Knowing where we come from, our past makes us who we are today so kudos to those who preserve items from the past. So today looks like a tough ride, but hey you must be building up those abs that can now take you anywhere! I am keeping you and the two Opas (as well as the other riders) in my daily prayers and often quick little prayers throughout the day as I think of the ride for the day. I call them prayer bursts! Say hello to Ralph.
Take Care

HI there Gayle, Your pictures are just great and I continue to enjoy your writing about all the experiences along the way. The changes in countryside and also the encounters with the people living along the road are so interesting to follow.
I hope you will excuse me for writing back to Margaret about the time I lived in London and attended your church.
Margaret, our family did live in the same house. I remember Joke and Nelly. I called my father who is now 90yrs old and still lives in London. He said their last name was van Heeringen. There was also a family called Postma, with 3 children, who live there at the same time we were there. Yes I do remember the name de Koter. Amazing ,eh, what a small world. I would love to join you all for worship or just a get together when Gayle is back.
Thank you Gayle. This ride sure is bringing up connections.
Enjoy the time to relax in Boise.
