It was a beautiful ride into the Cascade Mountains but uphill for the first 40miles
I kept my pace slow so that I could endure and heard Joanne Bernard telling me to keep my own pace every time some one passed me. Every now and then it just hit me..I'm CYCLING through the mountains. The last 10 miles for the first 1/2 was a nasty ascent that took it's toll on all of us. 3000 feet in 10miles to Steven's Pass.
The motivation most of had was that the last 40miles would be down hill-They lied. But as we passed snow(even a snowball fight) and felt the cool air blow pass with the smell of Christmas trees, it was a sense of home for my first Canada Day outside the country.
The final descent was escorted by the roar and majesty of the white water of the Wenachee River as storm clouds rolled in above.
10hour on the road, 7hours cycling, 124kms later and I was in camp.
Tomorrow, we have another pass at 4200 feet over 20 miles. Pray for strength and endurance and safety

Keep up the good work, Gayle. Remember, He who was begun a good work in you will carry it through to completion!
Judging by the maps, elevation stats and distance, I had concluded the same thing yesterday. But their evil plot did not work! God prevailed!
Great to hear from you Gayle -- We spotted you in a few photos but it was good to "hear" your "voice". I did a lot of praying for you and you will be in our thoughts and prayers as you cycle on to more adventure!
Hi Gayle,
great to see you in the photos well on your way. Have an awesome time on your adventure of a lifetime. I'll be watching and cheering!
