On Saturday, I was heading back into London from my ride out to Mount Bridges, when a bright red pickup truck pulled over just ahead of me. It was my friend Bart and his 5yr old son Cole. They were headed to Springbank park to ride their bikes and thought they would stop to check up on my training. Bart has been following this blog and was wondering if he would see me on my rides, as he lives out in Komoka.
As we were chatting, Cole asked what I was doing. Bart explained that I was practicing for a big bike ride where I was going to bike from one ocean to the other. Cole looked at us in amazement and said, "WOW! That is going to take ALL DAY!" A 5yr old's concept of time. Of course this got me thinking. I will be 40 when I do this,Cole is 5, that gives us an 8:1 ratio of days( in our lifetime). Next year, Sea To Sea will be about 54 days of cycling. That works out to 6.75 days in Cole's life. Buddy, it's not just going to take ALL DAY...It's going to be almost ALL WEEK!
